Christian - Specific Phobia
Specific Phobia refers to the fear of a particular situation or object. It is common for individuals to have multiple specific phobias. Phobias may lead to significant impairment and distress.
Common phobias include:
- Animals (e.g. spiders, insects, dogs)
- Natural environment (e.g. heights, storms, water)
- Situations (e.g. being in an airplane, being in an elevator, being in enclosed spaces)
- Others (e.g. choking, vomiting, loud sounds; in children e.g., costumed characters)
SYMPTOMS THAT MAY BE TREATED WITH PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELLING:
Fear or anxiety about a specific object or situation; avoidance of specific objects or situations; and experiencing the presence of specific objects, or situations with significant anxiety and distress.
